Current Position
• Consultant Interventional Cardiology, UAE Ministry of Health Licensed (December 2017 till date) I performed 700+ cath procedures from December 2018 until October 2021 including diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures as well as peripheral, carotid, pulmonary and mitral valve interventions (Log book available)
• Head of Cardiology Department, Fujairah Hospital, UAE Ministry of Health (February 2018 till date) Fujairah Hospital is one of the largest government hospitals in the UAE eastern coast. The cardiology department has a CCU, non-invasive lab, and one cathlab. My duties as a HOD include quality planning, organising educational activities for doctors and nurses, performance monitoring appraisal for 2 cardiology consultants and 2 specialists, as well as development and monitoring of KPIs. The cathlab is equipped with IVUS, OCT, FFR, rotablator, intra-aortic balloon and Impella. The lab started running 24/7 since January 2018 and performs complex coronary and peripheral vascular interventions. The department is the referral hub for four other government hospitals in the region for invasive cardiac procedures.

• Professor Cardiology, Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University (On leave January 2018 till date) The cardiology department at Cairo University encompasses more than 100 cardiology beds and four cathlabs across three hospitals. The cathlabs perform annually >3000 diagnostic and interventional procedures. I conduct weekly clinical rounds with lecturers, residents and interns. We annually publish abstracts in international conferences. In addition to the weekly volume of diagnostic and interventional coronary procedures, duties include curriculum design, under-graduate lectures and postgraduate teaching.

Professional Work Experience
• Associate Professor Cardiology, Kasr Al-Ainy Faculty of Medicine, Cairo University (January 2013 – January 2018)
• Head of Cardiology Department, As-Salam International Hospital, Cairo, Alameda Healthcare Group (February 2015 – August 2017) As-Salam hospital is the largest private JCI-accredited hospital in Egypt with 300-bed capacity. The cardiology service hosts two cathlabs, a non-invasive suite and a 6-bed chest pain unit. As an interventionist, I performed annually >200 diagnostic and interventional procedures as a primary operator. As a director of cardiac services, I overviewed the performance of cardiology consultants, specialists and technicians in the clinical, non-invasive and invasive domains. With the help of the quality department, we developed KPIs for the cathlab and cardiac services. I moderated monthly educational meetings as well as morbidity/mortality meetings. My team shared actively in getting the hospital JCI accredited in September 2015. Our cathlabs performed annually >900 diagnostic and interventional procedures. In 2015, my team managed to shift from femoral to radial in the majority of coronary procedures. We managed to develop the service for primary PCI in acute MI to run 24/7 with a door to device time <90 minutes. We started a program for PCI in chronic total occlusions and introduced the FFR for the first time in the facility. In 2016, we started a program of structural interventions for TAVR, left atrial appendage occlusion and closure of para-valvular leaks.
• Senior Specialist interventional cardiology, Sabah Al-Ahmad Cardiac Center, Amiri Hospital, Ministry of Health, Kuwait (November 2013-February 2015): I performed 148 diagnostic procedures and 200+ PCI procedures as first operator. I worked on initiating the heart team and developing a database for the primary PCI program in the centre. This was done alongside the regular clinical activities as an acting consultant in the CCU, ward and OPD.
